Welcome To Vilcabamba
"The Sacred Valley of Longevity"

This Is A Privately Circulated Blog, scribbled exclusively for Friends & Familiars, that peers into and pontificates about Expat life in the hinterlands of South America. If your eyesight is less than optimal (like mine), then just click the type size up a notch on your browser..

Here you will find a series of curmudgeonly commentaries that I've posted from atop my rickety old soapbox for the past few years. And yes, there are indeed political rantings, so place your seats in the upright position and fasten your seat belts .... it may be a bumpy ride.

Where To Immigrate ... if you wish

In the past, a number of places have been suggested as ideal places to immigrate, mostly in Central and South America. But what about closer to home ... say in Canada?

A quick peek at the above map of Canada will show over 60 places in the Canadian Artic that have habitable locals, if you don't mind a bit of snow and ice. For example, put the name "SOMERSET, MANITOBA, CANADA" into the Great Oracle Google.com and check out that uninhabited island location for starters. Your only neighbors will be native Eskimo fishermen and hunters ... but just think of all the peace and quiet.

Hmm-mm, want a few more English speaking neighbors? Well, there's Salisbury, New Brunswick, Canada, with less snow and a warmer climate. As for me, I still prefer sunny Ecuador.
